ABOUT THE ARTIST
Drawing the quiet power of people, memory, and place.

THE CALLING
“Every drawing begins with listening — capturing not just what the eye sees, but the dignity and memory carried in every face.”
Hamarich is an Ethiopian contemporary artist working in Addis Ababa. His portraits hold space for the dignity, intimacy, and generational stories etched into human countenances.
Working with pure carbon, graphite, and white highlights upon heavyweight 300gsm Fabriano archival cotton paper, each piece requires anywhere from 80 to upwards of 200 hours of continuous hand layering.
From the intricate gold embroidery of ceremonial Ethiopian royal kabas to the translucent weave of traditional netelas, his draughtsmanship bridges classical academic realism with deep cultural reverence.
THE BODY OF WORK
Operating at the intersection of master fine art creation, bespoke private commissions, and community mentorship.
Personal artistic inquiries, cultural heritage portraits, and chiaroscuro tonal studies in charcoal and colour.
Generational family anthologies, wedding vows, and custom concepts crafted in close dialogue with the collector.
Numbered, certified museum giclée prints chosen from the original works. Once an edition closes, it is never reprinted.
Free downloadable PDF drawing guides and upcoming video masterclasses sharing the techniques of hyper-realism.
COMMISSION A WORK
Every commission begins with a conversation about who the portrait is for, the stories behind it, and the medium that will bring it to life.
